In December I had a Dr Seuss themed baby shower with my family and friends put together for me by my best friend. It was beautiful and so much fun. If it looks slightly over the top and outside our laid-back style, it’s because the bestie is an event fundraising coordinator and she loves to decorate, and she loves tissue paper. Lol.
I gave mine and the bestie’s ideas to Gary and he had the invitations custom made with help from a business contact who works for a design and print company doing graphic art.
It was decided that my living room would be too small for the baby shower as it was a tight enough squeeze for just my family at the gender reveal. Bestie rented a meeting room at one of the churches she does events with. The church had a great energy and was peaceful with a beautiful courtyard and the bell sounded great too.
Bestie really out did herself with all the decorations. She made custom tassels, place settings, center pieces, photo wall. Her and Gary created character wall clings. Even the food signs were themed.
The food was also themed and each dish was given a Seuss inspired name to make it even more fun.
All the placemats has activities that could be done while eating and chatting just for fun. But, we did play 3 shower games.
The first was called “daddy or mommy” and was a list of facts that guests had to decided were about mommy or daddy. The person who got the highest number correct won.
The second game was “Baby Price is Right”. There were ten common baby items on the table and after bestie read of descriptions of each, guests tried the guess the actual total retail value of all the items. Whoever was the closest without going over won the game.
The third game we played was a Dr Seuss book guessing game. We had pictures printed from various Dr Seuss books and guests had to guess what book the photo came from. They were given a book list to help. Whoever had the most correct won.
In addition to games there was a diaper raffle and guests received a ticket for every package of diapers and/or wipes they brought.
In closing, the shower was awesome! Great people, good food, fun games and just a fun time. Our guests spoiled baby rotten and let us know how blessed we are to have each and every one of them in our lives. I hope they know what they mean to us, and what they will mean to our son.
